Legal Question in Family Law in California

Family Law - debts prior to marriage

With the new California gay marriage laws - is a spouselegally financially responsible for any debts or tax liabilities incurred by a spouse prior to marriage? We keep our finances seperate (seperate checking accounts) and do not own any property jointly. One pays rent to the other.

Re: Family Law - debts prior to marriage

If you got married you are resposible for each others debts. Also if you have domestic partnerships it is the same.

Good luck.

As always contact an attorney in your area if you have additional questions.
