Legal Question in Family Law in California

family law

In our final divorce papers, it was stated that my ex husband would be financially responsible for our daughter's college education. That was in 1997. She is now 18 and looking for colleges, and would like to go to a university out of state but cannot afford it. My ex said that he would be willing to help her with some expenses at our local community college, but that he shouldn't be expected to pay for the fees, tuition, books, room and board etc. for the univerity of her choice, and that he can't be legally forced to help pay for her college education at all now that she is over 18. Is that correct, or is he legally responsible to pay for the college expenses 100% since our court order states that? We live in California. thank you

Re: family law

You are going to need to take him back to court. Don't file an OSC re Contempt. File an OSC requesting clarification as to what his responsiblities are.
