Legal Question in Family Law in California
family law
My friend got divorced in 2003 and is very very depressed. She will not seek medical attention because she is afraid if her x were to find out he would be able to subpoena her medical records and take her kids away. Could you please tell me if this is possible. She has stated a few times that if she did not have the kids she would kill her self. I need to get her help, but she wont get it if she thinks getting help will get the kids taken away. I have tried to tell her by not getting help is more of a reason for getting the kids taken away. I really appreciate your help in find out what I can do for my friend!!!

yes your friend should seek medical help if she is depressed. Her own safety is paramount to concerns over legal matters. A medical professional can prescribe medication to treat her issue.
good luck.
As always consult a qualified attorney in your area before proceeding.

Re: family law
Receiving treatment for depression should be detrimental to her. Not receiving treatment for depression can be very detrimental, if her condition deteriorates.
