can i ask or pursue overpayment of child support when a judge would not give me credit or make the other party pay it back? I now have a new order where it was now showing arrears.

Maybe. You have to have prove you paid, you can't just say you paid. So do you have the cancelled checks, copies of the wire transfers, receipts for payment in cash (no one I ever talk to seems to have these), etc.? If you present those, you have to credited, and if you can't, you won't be.
If you overpaid, you can pursue repayment.
