Legal Question in Family Law in California
family law/custody
On 12/26/06, my 9 and 10 yrs old daughters were burned in a house fire. They were adopted by the paternal grandparents and they were also injured in fire. I have been by my daughters bedside everyday for the last 3 weeks. Friday (1/12/07) a social worker put a NO VISITORS unless a member of the father's family is present. I was an LAPD officer for 13 years and went down the wrong path. For 3 yrs, I have been clean & sober and have been in my daughters lives. The grandfather is critical and the grandmother had a stroke 3 yrs ago. They are incapacitated as guardians. I would like to have the case re-open for review. PLS ADVISE.I live in Los Angeles County.

Re: family law/custody
You stated that they were adopted. The adoption terminated your parental rights. There are sometimes provisions in the adoption agreement for continued contact with the child after the adoption.
You need to get together all of the court documents that you have access to and meet with an attorney.
However, it would appear that your best approach is to be civil to the grandparents family.
