Family Leave Act

My wife is on admistrtative leave at work. She works as a loan officer and a client is claiming she should not have been giving a stated income loan. The client signed the documents and now 8 months later is submitting this outrageous claim. She is under a lot of stress and our son was sent to a mental hospital for threat of hurting himself and after sent to rehab which he ran from. We need one parent to care for him since he is 16 years old. Can her employer terminate her if she requests the leave?
