re my father
my dad had 1 year to live and my step drinks alot. can we get a dual power of attorney to help us.

I do not know what a "dual" power of attorney is, but it is usually best that only one person be named as power of attorney. Otherwise, both people will always have to be present when signing legal documents or making legal decisions. It might be better for your dad to name you as the sole power of attorney. Also, your dad may need to make a trust for estate planning purposes.

If your father has capacity he can appoint you as his agent under a power of attorney. He's not required to appoint his wife.
