Legal Question in Family Law in California
Father exhibiting signs of dementia and erratic behavior, fourth wife ignoring t
My father is exhibiting very bizarre and inappropriate behavior, some of it illegal, all of it irrational. He has been married to his fourth wife for two years. A year into their marriage, he contacted a chronic disease that has made his mental condition much worse. He is now demented, irrational and paranoid. He has tried to file a restraining order against me (up until now we've had a close and loving relationship) and has terminated his relationship with his adult children and young grandchildren. I have tried to talk with his wife to ask her to have him seek medical attention, but she wants nothing to do with me. I would like to have him committed as I think he's possibly dangerous and is in need of medical care. What are my rights and my siblings' rights with regard to getting our father medical attention? Do we have any rights if we needed to have him committed? Or, because there's a new wife in the picture, are we no longer allowed to help our father if the wife doesn't let us? My father has definitely exhibited diminished capacity and is certainly not in his right mind. Thank you for your informed response.

Re: Father exhibiting signs of dementia and erratic behavior, fourth wife ignori
you can file for a conservatorship but even if the court agrees he needs one the judge may very well appoint the wife.
