Legal Question in Family Law in California

Father Removal on Birth Certificate

I was recently cleared as being the father of a child due to a DNA test. However, prior to the testing, I signed the papers to have my name on the birth certificate. Now that the situation has changed, what are the proper forms I need to fill out in order to remove my name from the birth certificate?

Re: Father Removal on Birth Certificate

It depends on how old the child is. You should have a judicial order that says that you are not the father of the child. It may be that you will need to file an action to establish that you are not the father, otherwise, at some point in time you may not be able to claim that you are not the father. Take all of your paperwork to an attorney and get some advice on how to proceed. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
