Legal Question in Family Law in California

Is father responisible for half of sons car insurance.

My question is now that my 17 year old son is driving and I share legal custody but have sole custody.Is my sons father responsible for paying half of his car insurance. If my son was in a car accident he would be responisble for half of that correct,so why not half of the car insurance? The father is stating that driving is a luxury and does not have to pay. I think that since you have to have insurance to drive he should have pay half.

Generally the courts will no order anyone to pay for the car insurance of a child. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
