Legal Question in Family Law in California

Father verbally abusive

Our 10 year old son is fearful of his safety while in his father's care. His father is verbally abusive toward him. He screams, slams his hands on tables, fists on steering wheels, cursing. etc. Our son doesn't want to see his father until after both see a counselor. His father has a history of this type of behavior with my older son (not his). His father and I have a 50/50 visitation and custody. I have made an appt with a counselor. What are my legal responsibilities to protect my son?

If his fear is severe I would recommend going ex parte to stop visitation until it is resolved. Contact me directly.
