Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am the father of a 4 year old boy and have full legal and physical custody. I have not heard from the mother in 2 years. Am I able to relocate out of county or state with out going to court or attempting to contact the mother.

If you have complete and total custody with no visitation or any other rights given the mother in your present order, you shouldn't have a problem changing counties without a court order. If your move would prevent the mother from using custody or visitation time that was granted her, even if she is not using it, you could be in trouble if she turns up and disputes it. As for moving out of state, since you would be taking the child permenantly outside the California court's jurisdiction, you will need an order granting permission.
