Father's visitation

What if the father wants to give up visitation rights and no longer see the child based on a court order?

Re: Father's visitation

I assume you mean the court order requires the father to visit the child. Unless the mother agrees otherwise, the father has to visit the child when the court order says he does. The father could seek a modification of the court order to "reasonable visitation" without any specific time-table involved, but the court probably will not grant a request for zero visitation.

Re: Father's visitation

if you're the father, then why would you do this to your child.

if you're not the father, have a heart-to-heart with the father. convince him to have a healthy relationship with his son. this might sound hookie, but at the experts will tell you that your child will suffer from abandonment issues for the rest of his or her life.

If the mother has remarried and her new husband wants to adopt, that could be done. However, it's the child's right to support, so just saying you don't want to have visitation any more doesn't mean that you will get out of paying child support.

I would recommend rethinging this. Your child will be affected by this for the rest of his life.
