Legal Question in Family Law in California
I am a female only child. Let's say my last name is Marquet, my father's last name. He has a sister who I believe has taken her husband's last name, let's say it is Winslow, legally. Her two minor daughters both carry the Winslow last name, their father's. My father's sister is constantly trying to push he inclusion into my father and my lives, and often uses our last name of Marquet in order to try to be like us. Her children are saying that once they turn 18 they want to change their last name to Marquet. Are they allowed to do this? Would I be able to do anything legally to stop them, considering it is not their last name, but mine? I do not like them or their mother and do not want us sharing the same last name especially when it is not their real last name.
