Legal Question in Family Law in California

My fiance just found out he had a baby last week. He wants notthing to do with the mother and child. Would signing away his rights make any differnet? And if so, how do we go about process? And how long would it take?

Not possible. Paternity rights belong to the child. They can be enforced by the parents, but they cannot be waived by the parents.

Mr. McCormick is right. You can't sign away any parental rights. I don't mean to seem harsh, but I think that his willingness to give up on his kid and this other woman indicates he is not going to be a "winner" for you. I suggest moving on with your life, as this is a litmus indicator of problems that you are going to have later on down the road.
