Legal Question in Family Law in California
My fiance and i live in Oregon, we want to get married, but he has child from a former girlfriend and he owes child support and back child support in California. He doesn't have a job yet either, if we get married will they garnish my wages to pay for he child support he owes? And if they can what can i do to protect my wages from them doing that?

They cannot garnish your wages for his debt, even after marriage. If you have any joint accounts, however, they can go after money there, regardless of who earned it.
I would agree with Mr. McCormick if you were in California. Generally, the child support enforcement rules are uniform. To be sure, and be on the safe side, I would repost in the Oregon section, and see what attorneys licensed in Oregon have to say.
