Legal Question in Family Law in California

My fiancee is going to court for full custody of his kids. his ex has been collecting welfare/child support since 2004 but the 2 girls were never living with the mother, they have lived with their grandmother (on their mother's side) while she stayed in motel after motel doing drugs with her 15 year younger boyfriend.

anyways, i need a copy of the dates she was staying and working in this specific motel for several months some time between 2004 and 2005.this is one that we were sure she lived and worked at and she was there for the longest out of all the motels. can i call the motel and ask for any of that info? is that info confidential or are those records to old? my only other proof is an email from the grandmother admitting that when the girls were staying with her, their mother never visited them. what other evidence should i try to get? this women is so dirty and underhanded, a real loser but we never spoke ill of her to the girls. she keeps trying to screw over my fiancee and we are finally going to fight back.

The answer provided to this question is general in nature and cannot replace the advice given by a qualified attorney during a confidential office meeting designed to fully explore your legal options.

The question is a complicated one and really requires the skilled advice rendered during an office meeting. With that being said, it seems that a subponea for the motel information would be the most advantageous way to get those records. It will be important to have both the custody and the child support matters poised to be heard by the court to ensure that the child support will be changed if the parenting plan and custody changes.
