Legal Question in Family Law in California
Fighting For My Daughter's Well-being
My daughter's dad has recently filed for joint or full custody ( i dont know which yet). He has 2 visiting days but only uses 1. The reason he has filed for that is cause he doesnt want to pay much child support even though it is only 200 a month. The child support agency has told him if he wants to reduce his 200 a month, he needs to spend more time with her but I am concerned because he is a drug dealer. He has used 3 different names that I know of and 2 different SSN's. He is a very bad example to her and I am afraid she may be put in danger because of his lifestyle. She is doing excellent in school because I put a lot of effort and time into helping her with her studies. He is definitely not a role model nor is seeking the best interest in her. What are his chances of him winning the case? I know he can afford a good lawyer because of his ''occupation'' but I don't have money to hire my own. What can I do?

As general rule the court does not change custody when the child is doing well in the custody of the other parent.
Has he been arrested for dealing drugs? If he has not been arrested for selling drups, how will you prove that he is a drug dealer.
Before the court hears the custody issue mediation between the parents must occur. Each county has its own variation of how this is done. You should contact a local attorney to learn that county's procedure for mediation.
The court should order him to pay your attorney fees. That does not guarantee that he will pay your attorney fees, as it my be difficult to find his money.
