How do I file for custody?

How do I file for custody of my children who are now in my mothers legal custody? I have had physical custody 4 years.

You need to file a motion to modify the current order that gives your mother legal custody. That motion will need to be filed in the court that ordered that she have legal custody. If your mother agrees you may be able to simply file a written stipulation, however, the other parent will need to have notice or give consent. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
