Legal Question in Family Law in California

How do I file a petition to terminate parental rights of the father, He has been absent out of my daughters life for going on 7 years now she is 11 years old and she would know him from a stranger on the streets, he has never supported her in anyway since birth, recently he showed up at my door demanding to see her and threating me. I recently found out now he is in jail for a felony charge. Please Help what can I do?

Unless he is a danger to the child you are not going to be successful. Go after him for back support and he may disappear again.

I agree with Mr. McCormick. Only a court can terminate parental rights, and that happens in dependency court. When that happens, Children's Protective Services (CPS) takes your children away, because they are in danger from you, and Dependency court either orders you to counseling and parenting classes, or they terminate your parental rights.
