Legal Question in Family Law in California
I filed through Child Support Services, but it's been a year and a half, and I'm still waiting for the DNA testing date from them. I don't know how long the whole process will take and the proposed amount isn't appropriate because it only covers half child care, I would have to try to modify the order if that amount didn't change. Would the process be quicker if I filed myself through the Court Self Help Center, instead of going through Child Support Services?

The only reason that the Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) gets involved in a case is if you are receiving public assistance. It would have been faster for you to do it yourself, but you should be aware that even if you get your own child support award in your own case, DCSS can appear in the case, and direct that support payments be made to DCSS, where they will apply some to payback any public assistance you have received.
Mr. Roach is again clueless. DCSS gets involved in any case where child support is or should be due and the payee asks for it to get involved. I have an ex living in a $1.25 million Tiburon condo, and DCSS collects her support from me for her.
