Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have filed for a custody change, they resonded. At our hearing they claim a bunch of lies and it is now set for a trial. I cannot afford a lawyer and this has blown way to big for me to handle. Can I withdraw and put a stop to this now before i make things worse in court. I understand they will come after me for their attorny fees.

If you want to drop your motion, then you need to contact the other attorney and ask whether or not they will agree to you dropping your motion and keeping things the way they are. They may not agree to it, especially since the wheels have started rolling and costs have been expended. At that point I would try to negotiate with them to see how to resolve the matter quickly without incurring additional costs.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.

As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
