Legal Question in Family Law in California
I filed for divorce in CA 11 months ago. Meanwhile, I've had some medical emergencies and we haven't found the time to file the rest of the papers. Will this case be thrown away due to lack of activity? How long will it remain active?

You should still be able to proceed. You should, however, check the cases status on court's web site. Recently, I was able to finalize a dissolution case that was dormant for almost two years (not because of my actions).

At least here in Riverside County, a case will generally remain active for 3 years without any activity on it before the court will dismiss the case.
