Legal Question in Family Law in California

I filed Divorce paperwork February 9, 2010. My husband didn't contest the divorce. I was under the assumption that if he didn't respond/contest the divorce that it would just go through. I wasn't aware of the steps and my rights. Also, we have a 2yr old son and I didn't request child support during my filing, because my husband isn't working. My son is getting ready to attend pre-school and I would like to request half of his tuition for when my husband does start working. What are my right and options?

"What are my rights and options" is really WAY to broad for a BBS question. I was tempted to flag your question as inappropriate, but let me point you in the right direction, instead. You need to pick up a copy of "How to Do Your Own Divorce In California" by Nolo Press, available in most book stores, most online store, and directly from Nolo. Before I started doing family law, I used it for my own divorce, because it was clearer and easier to use than the Family Law books in the law library, even for me, a seasoned litigator. It will walk you through a default divorce, especially if you get a little help from the Family Law Facilitator in at your county's Superior Court. If you then find you still have more specific questions, come on back and post them here.
