I filed for divorce, when my soon to be ex responded, he requested that I pay alimony and lawyers fees; do I have to file a response to that?

No, the response only gives him the rights to request those items in court at a later time. At that time you would need to respond.

No, that is set for trial, unless he files an OSC or motion for an item, then you respond to the motion or OSC.
