Once everything is filed, how long does it take for the divorce to become final in California?

The earliest a divorce judgment can be entered is six months after the respondent is served with the petition to dissolve the marriage. Once that deadline passes, if all the paperwork is in order, and the divorce is uncontested and there are no disputed issues, then it is only a matter of how long it takes the court to process the papers. That varies by county and even varies in each county simply based on how many cases are pending at any given time.
