Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have filed an Order to Show Cause against my ex husband to modify the existing visitation agreement from Supervised visitation for him to Supervised Visitation for him at a professional facility with a professional as the supervisor. Up until now I have been the supervisor, allowing him visitation when he calls for it, and at a public place. He has been increasingly verbally abusive towards me and his behavior has been such that I think he's on drugs again. I am worried about my safety and the safety of our daughter. However, I have been having trouble serving the papers to him. I tried to have a friend do it, but he dodged him. I sent the papers to the sheriff, but when the sheriff went to his house, his family members said my ex moved out just one week prior. He keeps avoiding service. What do I do next? By the way, he is continually unemployed, has had his license taken away for the past 6 years as a result of a DUI, has had felony charges in the past, and gang affiliations and tattoos.

You can serve him via us mail at his registered address with the court. You don't need to personally serve OSC unless it is for something like contempt.
