Legal Question in Family Law in California

filiation paternity.

Me and my partner had been planning to get married little by little recently. Suddenly, my partner was told by a lady that he might had a 3years old child.

But the lady wasn't sure who the father was when she got pregnant because she had another sex partner which was her serious partner at the time.

She's been asking my partner to take DNA test and also saying that she just wants to know who the father is.

but at the time when she got pregnant(that's about 4 years ago.), she didn't tell or ask my partner anything about the baby or what to do for that. She decided to have the baby without father. now, she is trying to get him and sending me crazy messages.

so i cannot think she just wants to know who the child's father is...

In this case,Can she force him by law?

If she can, How big deal my partner has to do for this?

If my partner gets married to me now, will anything be different from being single?

In my opinion, this lady is too selfish and my partner must be really confused now.

Even if he has to do something for this, I don't want him to accept too big deal with it so,,, I would like to hear your advice. thank you so much. I appreciate your cooperation.

Re: filiation paternity.

Your message is confusing. Marriage is like a woman being pregnant either you are or you are not. This woman is not doubt looking for child support. She can force him to take the paternity test by filing a petition to determine paternity. The fact that he fathered a child out of wedlock will not prevent him from marrying someone else.
