Legal Question in Family Law in California

RE: filing for child custody

I want to file for sole custody of my child. The father and I were never married and never lived together. He is in prison and has been most of my child's life. There has been a child support order but it's on reserve status. What can I do to make sure that I have sole custody? The father has domestic violence issues.

There is never a guarentee of the outcome but certainly you should file a paternity action to request sole custody. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
