Legal Question in Family Law in California
Filing in Oregon; case already in California courts
My child custody case was originally filed in California in 1992. Have since been back to California courts several times. My question is, can I modify existing orders in Oregon? If so, what forms do I need to file? If not, I still need to find out what forms I need to file.
Thank you in advance.

Normally, unless both parents have moved out of California, the case stays in California under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA).

REPLY:
The question of which of two (or more) states would have jurisdiction to modify an existing custody order is controlled by the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act, which exists in both Oregon and California.
