Legal Question in Family Law in California

filing question

i have been doing my own divorce i have shown up at almost all court appearances. i was on the last step (filing the papers for a judgement)the last court date i did appear but was notified this court was permenantly closed. i did not notice where i was supposed to go. i was not counted as showing up and was notified 2 weeks later by mail that because of this no show my case was dismissed.

what, if any, papers should, can, or need to file to get my case back open? or is it easier to refile for divorce again from scratch? is there any time concerns for getting it back open?

Re: filing question

You will need to file a motion to re-open the case and set aside the order dismissing the case. You may be able to do this ex-parte, depending upon the judge. It may be easier on you to do this with an attorney. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
