Legal Question in Family Law in California
How can I find out if divorce was filed?
My ex-husband was supposed to file divorce papers; how can I check if this was done without contacting him?

Divorce filings are public record. You can go to the courthouse and look it up alphabetically, year by year.
If you find that he has filed for dissolution of marriage, I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
You will find some valuable information on various family law issues at my web site.
Good luck to you!

The easiest way to check on the status of a case is to check with the Court Clerk and inquire. The divorce will usually be filed either in the county of your residence (or his) or in the county where the marriage took place, you can check with the Clerk's Office at the Family Law Court to determine whether the documents have been filed,,remember these people are extremely busy so it is often better to go to the courthouse in person to make inquiries,,,,pdm
