Legal Question in Family Law in California
how to find out about if im legally divorced
1 Answer from Attorneys
It depends on what county your case was filed in, and how long ago. Some counties have their full files online at least the more recent cases. You can download the documents for a fee. Other counties only have a listing of the documents filed in each case online, again how far back it goes varies. In either of those two kinds of counties, if your case is recent enough you can go online and see if a judgment is in file. The judgment is what makes you legally divorced. If the court the case was filed in does not have online records for family law cases, or your case is too old, you will have to go to the court in person or hire a court records retrieval service to go for you and review the file in the court clerk's filing and records office.
