Legal Question in Family Law in California

Finding the court records of my case

When I was younger my mother and father divorced. My mother received full custody of me, because there was reason to believe my father sexually abused me. I dont remember anything about that time in my life. During this time, my father fled the state. Are there any court records available to the public so that I could read through the case? If so, how do I find them? I've worked in a law office, so I know how to read them - it's just a matter of finding them.

Thank you for any information you can give me....

Lauren

I may be able to help you find this information depending on which court the documents are located in. Give my office a call at your earliest convenience.

You could contact the court in the county in which you lived at the time. Also check the court file for the divorce. These files often have declarations about the circumstances which affect custody and visitation. These files are often destroyed about 7 years after the case is closed.
