Legal Question in Family Law in California

What Does This Form Mean Please?

Hello,

I am involoved in a child custody case, being the custodial parent and today in the mail I recieved some sort of form, that Says, ''Substitution of Attorney - Civil'' Is this just notification to be that my ex has a new attorney? Is says in a box, ''Notice to Parties Without Attorneys. A party representing himself or herself may with to seek legal assistance. Failure to take the appropriate action this case may result in serious legal consequenses.'' Those words look scary. I have read the form carefully, but do not see that it says anything more than he has a new attorney.

Thank you very much!
