You should file a petition to determine that the marriage is void. This will clarify your marital status.

It is not up to the parties to determine whether they are legally married or not. There is a judicial process for you to determine whether you are married or not. Thus, it is important for you to initiate a proceedings declaring your marriage as void or voidable. In that way you can legally say that you've never been married.
