Legal Question in Family Law in California

I found out on 1/19/10 that I had lost my job. I have no family in the state of California. I am moving to Indiana with my husband as I have no other options left here. I notified my ex-husband the day I lost my job and we had a previous mediation session on 11/10/09 that discussed my intent to move with the child to Indiana. I have no way to pay the rent in the place we live in now, and there is no way to work any arrangements out with them to maintain residency here. I have received no call backs regarding employment at this time within California. My daughter wants to move with me to Indiana. She is an intelligent and mature 8 year old capable of expressing her wishes. My ex is refusing to let her leave and modification to a previous custody arrangement would be necessary. I have to be out by February 1st and desperately want to take my daughter with me. Is there anything I can do????
