Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have full custody of my son and his father has very little visitation. What can i do when my son doesn't want to go with his dad. He's 5 1/2 yrs old. He keeps saying he doesn't want to go on his visit. Can i prevent him from going or force him to go on his visit?

This response to your question should not replace the legal advice you receive during an in office consultation with an attorney skilled in the area of family law.

The CA courts adheres to a family law policy that supports frequent and ongoing contact between a child and the non-custodial parent. If there is emotional or physical abuse issue then a return to court asking the judge to limit or suspend contact would be in order.
