Re: full custody of my unborn child

As the previous poster said, it depends on whether you are the mother or the father. I would respectfully dispute his statement that mothers automatically "have full custody." It really depends on the circumstances. Unless you can reach an agreement with the other parent, you will need to go to court and get a custody and support order. It is always best to reach an agreement outside of court, because you never can predict what a court will decide. In many cases a written agreement for custody and support can be filed in court and can thereafter have the effect of a court order (the court will want to make sure that support is provided for).

The answer depends on who you are. Mom automatically has full custody. There is no question as to her relationship with the child. The father, if married to mom has a legal claim for custody of the child. However, he must act as the father to keep that claim alive. That is take the child into his home and claim it as his child.
