Legal Question in Family Law in California
I have full legal custody of my 16 year old son.he has ran away for the second tome and I have a pretty good idea where he is question is I'm not sure cause of his age can he speak for himself? I have had custody of him for 6 and 1/2 years.his mother passed away in a automobile accident and right at that time his grandmother ( my sons moms mother ) tried to get full custody of him and lost. Ever since then she and I have bumped heads
I have tried to allow her to visit but it just don't work. She's always telling my son its ok If u don't graduate from high school u can live with me college is not for everyone and the list goes on. So raising him has been hard. I married 6 year's ago and my wife and I value education and it's strongly enforced in our home. He has minimal chores and rules. He's at an age where he don't want to follow rules and thinks its ok to be disrespectful to me and my wife and we are not gonna allow him to do so in our house.

He is a minor in the eyes of the law until he turns 18, or becomes what is known as an emancipated minor. Until he turns 18, or becomes emancipated, you are responsible and he is not the boss. So, to answer your legal question, he has no say in the matter.
