Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have full physical custody of my children in the state of California. My ex and his new wife have told my oldest son that when he turns 12, he gets to decide who he wants to live with. I've been taking care of my kids as their primary care giver for over 8 years. Can my son choose when he turns 12? They live 75 miles away from me. It would mean a new school and city for my son and also he'd be away from his younger brothers.

No, your son does not get to choose at age 12. He gets to unilaterally choose his destiny when he reaches the age of majority. Insist that your ex stop telling the child this misinformation and , if necessary, return to court to get an order to protect your child from this conduct.
