Reply: gifted money in divorce

In a genaral sense, if the money from your father was a gift to you alone, and you used it towards the down payment of a community property residence, you are entitled to a reimbursement under Family Code Section 2640.

For a specific opinion regarding your individual circumstances, I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
