Legal Question in Family Law in California

my girlfriend and i had a baby when she was under age and I was an adult. for fear of me going to jail and me being labeled a sexoffender we denied that i was the father when we signed the baby up for medical child support services started harrassing us threating her and refusing to talk to me now they have filed papers and want to serve me and say that they can (get a court order for a paternity test). My girlfriend is terrorfied that they will take the baby and send both of us to jail. do we stick to our guns and deny it in court or do we cave. where we live its not up to the parrents to press charges on stachatory its up to the d.a.
