Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have a girlfriend who is expecting a child with me. She doesn't live with me and we live apart a few cities away. I'm 25 and she's 19. She's 5 months and is at high risk pregnancy and we haven't told any one of our families because of the risks. She called me last night and she told me she went to go see her family (from her father side) for a celebration. She told be her father grabbed her to the side in private and took her to a room and beat her stomach because he noticed she was pregnant and I'm guessing he doesn't approve. She doesn't want to involve the authorities because it's her father but I'm afraid she might lose the child because of the assault. My question is, can I press charges as the father of the child to her father if she loses my unborn baby?

Only the DA can press charges. You can and probably should report the crime.
