Legal Question in Family Law in California
My former girlfriend filed a domestic violence restraining order against me. This was four days after I broke up with her. Initially, she did it to force me to move out of the apartment we used to live in together. I could not afford an attorney at the hearing, but she had one paid for by her parents. I was stunned by how many times she perjured herself in court. The judge would not grant a permanent order, but did extend the temporary order for a year even though I had evidence proving much of what she said was false (telephone records, police reports, etc.) The judge wouldn't even look at these. The temporary order has made it impossible to find work as it comes up on a background check. Can I sure her in civil court where at least my case will be heard? If not, I'm afraid she will just tell more lies when we go back to court and this will continue to affect my career. By the way, there is no truth to her story. It never happened. No witnesses, no police reports, just a pretty face and a pack of lies. Orange County, CA.

I don't know who you are applying to work with, but a domestic violence restraining order shows up in only two places: the Domestive Violence Restraining Order System (DVROS) accessed by law enforecment through CLETS (California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System; and the court index when someone types your name into the civil search database.
I seriously doubt an order telling you to stay away from her is keeping you from getting a job.
