giving up parental rights
My husband wants to give up his parental rights to his son from a previous marriage. the mother is a very hard headed person. shes in the navy and has a lawyer so she tends to win EVERYTIME. She takes out more in his pay checks than we can afford. if he gives up his rights does he still have to pay child support?

Giving up his parental rights does not terminate his obligation to pay support and may very well increase his support obligation. Wanting to relinquish parental rights and being able to do so are, unfortunately, two very different things. It is highly unlikely he can do so absent an adoption request by the other parent and her husband.
If the child is adpted then the requirement for support is terminated. If your husband just stops seeing the child, not only will the support not go away, it will increase.
