Legal Question in Family Law in California

Good afternoon my name is Rogelio Harris, I have a question regarding child support please.

I was in the military in 2008 when my ex-wife divorced me however I didn’t know about the divorce decree or anything about that, my divorce paperwork was not signed by me and I never knew I was divorced until years later. I asked my ex about these matters and she never gave me an answer she kept my questions lingering because I was stationed in New Orleans and then overseas . I later found out that I had child support filed on me in 2015 but I didn’t know about it and by the time I did I was already behind over $21,000. I’ve been trying to make payments over the years for my child support however I have never been able to catch up on my payments due to me being behind so much money and at times not having income.I know by me being in a military I don’t have a statue of limitations so I’m not sure if I have a case or not can you please help me regarding this matter thank you?

You need to hire a lawyer. It sounds like you have the right to have the support amount steeply reduced or cancelled, but you are in too deep of a hole to get out without legal help, and more legal help than you can get from a free internet Q&A service. Contact the local bar association in your county for a referral.
