Legal Question in Family Law in California

I'm am about to graduate high school and join the Air Force. I would like to gain full custody of my little sister who is 11 years old and lives with our mother. Our mother is on Welfare and SSI. I feel she is not capable of caring for my sister and I would be able to provide much more, her father is also not involved in her life. Would I be able to gain the custody?

This would depends if you can prove that your mother is unfit or if you think that she is just financially unstable. Would your mother consent to letting you care for your sister? You should consider guardianship, power of attorney and/or caregiver's authorization affidavit. Good luck.
