Legal Question in Family Law in California
My grandmother raised me since I was 3 months old. I have 5 brothers with 3 different fathers. They did not live with me as a child my grandmother raised me with the help of my Aunt financially. When I was born my mother gave me up for adoption, my grandmother couldnt bear it so she fought and got me back from the couple. I dont think it was finalized. Anyhow I grew up without my mom or dad. It was very very difficult for me as I needed them too. When my grandmother passed away I moved to Fresno in 1996 to meet my mother. We really didnt get along because I despised her for what she had done to me. She told me that the person I thought was my Dad for 23 years was not it devastated me.tore me up. Anyhow when my brothers got wind of what had happened he sat me down and told me that when mom had an affair with his dad (they both had remarried since) and along came me. Which would explain the adoption process.
My father David Goodmon is his name I look like 2 of my brothers who are his children from my mother. He was not a nice man to me at all. He knew that I wanted him to admit being my father but he couldnt because his current wife would take him for all he is worth and divorce him. He called me about 10 years ago and asked me to go to lunch, I was sooooo excited because I thought he would finally admit to being my father.instead he told me that he was not my Dad and that he didnt know what to tell me. I will never forget that day. That was the most horrible feeling in the world. I knew at that point I would never get closure. We didnt speak after that.
I spoke with a lawyer once and he told me that I should get a DNA test done to prove it and I could possibly get back child support. I never did as did not want to cause problems. Last week David Goodmon passed away. My brother is trying to get me to prove it now that he is gone. Is that even possible? Would the hospital have his DNA still? He was a wealthy man with a well known Auto Shop here in town called Goodmons Auto Repair.

I believe that you and your brother could both give samples which could be tested to determine the likelihood that you had the same father, which could give you the information you seek.
