Legal Question in Family Law in California

grandmother's concerns

My former son in law sexually assaulted my daughter recently. The police are preparing to send the case to the district attorney next week. My daughter has joint legal custody but according to the mediation paperwork, he has sole physical custody of their small child. I am very worried for my granddaughter. I need some advice as to what to do to make sure my granddaughter remains safe. What usually happens if an arrest takes place? Will my daughter be notitifed?

Re: grandmother's concerns

Consult with an attorney. A sexual assault can be grounds for excluding a parent from custody and unsupervised visitation.
